May is Free Lesson Month at GolfBC Courses across British Columbia!
1st May, 2009
GolfBC's fourth annual “Free Lesson
Month” teed off again this May at all nine of its
British Columbia courses. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday in
May, GBC Golf Academy's experienced, certified Canadian PGA
instructors will be on hand to provide 10-minute swing tips to all
guests. Since its launch in 2006, more than 700 golfers have taken
part in “Free Lesson Month,” which includes
complimentary practice balls and equipment.
“We're delighted to bring 'Free Lesson Month' back
to GolfBC,” said Andy Hedley, vice president of
operations for GolfBC. “'Free Lesson Month' fits
perfectly with GolfBC's philosophy of growing the game and our
belief that every golfer can improve and have more fun with their
golf game,” he said.
Hedley noted that “Free Lesson Month” is
just one of several GolfBC initiatives supporting its commitment to
making golfing family and beginner-friendly. “Kids Play Free at
GolfBC” allows junior golfers 16 years and younger
to play free on any course when accompanied by a paying adult, and
all GolfBC's British Columbia courses are certified
Beginner
Friendly
by the National Golf Course Owners
Association, a designation that means each facility has proven
itself to be welcoming to new golfers through its availability of
clinics, rental clubs, special playing times for beginners and
other programs.
Vancouver-based GolfBC Group owns and operates eight
championship courses and one 9-hole course in British Columbia:
Nicklaus North in Whistler; Mayfair Lakes in Richmond; Furry Creek
near Lion's Bay; The Bear and The Quail at The Okanagan Golf Club
in Kelowna; Gallagher’s Canyon and the 9-hole Pinnacle
in Kelowna; Arbutus Ridge in Cobble Hill and Olympic View in
Victoria. Together, the golf professionals at GolfBC's nine GBC
Golf Academies comprise the largest and most qualified
instructional staff in Western Canada. In addition to the
certification program by the PGA of BC, instructors must also
complete a comprehensive training schedule to become
“GBC Certified”.
GolfBC is a golf and resort management and investment company
committed to defining a higher standard of quality and consistency
among premier golf destinations. Since 1989 GolfBC has been
creating premium golf destinations and master-planned communities
in British Columbia. In addition to its nine B.C. courses, GolfBC
also owns three golf courses in Maui, Hawaii: the Gold, Emerald and
Old Blue courses at Wailea Golf Resort.
