GolfBC's "Learn to Play & Play More Often" continues strong season of "Grow the Game" programs
13th November, 2006
Vancouver, BC – The GolfBC Group’s Learn
to Play & Play More Often strategy continued the successful
growth of its player development programs in 2006. For
the second straight year, over 1000 complimentary junior golf
rounds were given away under the “Kids Play Free at
GolfBC” initiative. This year’s
launch of “GolfBC Free Lesson Month” had
250 complimentary lessons taught to new, beginner and avid golfers,
and for the second straight year GolfBC’s partnership
with the National Golf Course Owners Association continued with the
“Take-a-kid to the Course Week” and
“Beginner Friendly Certification” at all 9
of its golf courses in British Columbia.
Andy Hedley, Vice President of Operations - GolfBC British
Columbia, declared this year another success for growing the game
of golf in Canada. “Our Learn to Play &
Play More Often strategy continues to introduce new players to the
game and provides more opportunities for avid players to access
golf in B.C. We are extremely proud to have topped 2000
complimentary junior rounds through “Kids Play Free at
GolfBC” in only our second year of the
program”. He also noted that it is extremely
satisfying to have all 9 GolfBC British Columbia properties to be
certified “Beginner Friendly” by the NGCOA
for the second straight year.
Participating courses in all the initiatives are Nicklaus North,
Furry Creek, Mayfair Lakes, The Bear and The Quail at The Okanagan
Golf Club, Gallagher’s Canyon and The Pinnacle, Arbutus
Ridge and Olympic View.
GolfBC, a Vancouver-based golf and resort management and
investment company, is defining a higher standard of quality and
