1st November, 2006
Penticton, BC - GBC Golf Academy
– at Olympic View Golf Club - Lead Instructor, Lori
Randle, has won the prestigious 2006 BC PGA Teacher of the Year
award. The British Columbia Professional Golf
Association awards dinner was held in Penticton on October 11th,
2006 where the announcement was made. The award is voted by a group
of fellow golf professionals, making it an especially large
honor.
"I am so happy to have been recognized by my peers. While
helping golfers improve is my biggest reward, it is very gratifying
to receive this award", said an excited Lori Randle after learning
about her win. Long been recognized within the golf industry and by
her students as an excellent instructor, this award helps signify
Lori's arrival at the top of her profession.
The award process started with island professionals nominating
teachers they felt were deserving of consideration for the
award. An island selection committee sifted through the
numerous nominations and put Lori forward for consideration for the
provincial award. At that point, nominees from the four
geographical regions of BC all submitted a resume of teaching
accomplishments and a provincial committee of past award winners
voted on the eventual winner. At the BCPGA awards
dinner on October 11 Lori was announced as the winner for 2006.
"Lori has been my "right-hand person" since 2003 when we moved
to Olympic View to help launch the GBC Golf Academy", offered John
Randle, her husband and Director of Instruction at the Olympic
View. "The academy could never have reached its position as an
industry leader without Lori's expertise and energy", says John.
Lori has built up Ladies Night at Olympic View from 20 people in
2003 to 144 in 2006, runs the numerous and thriving ladies lesson
programs, donates over 75 hours of golf instruction each year to
charity, uses cutting edge equipment and trains the junior
instructors at the GBC Academy. The GBC Golf Academy now has two
BCPGA Teachers of the Year on staff with Lori Randle in 2006 and
John Randle having won the award in 2002. In four short
years, the GBC Golf Academy as risen to the top of the BC golf
instruction scene, with 7 instructors whom have completed the
turnkey GBC Golf Academy Certification Program and golf school
programs that draw visitors from around the globe.
