Greg Norman to Help Celebrate Launch of GPS System at Mayfair Lakes
24th July, 2003
Vancouver, BC - Inforetech
(WYRE) has announced that Greg Norman will help
celebrate the first Canadian installation of its GPS (Global
Positioning System) yardage system at Mayfair Lakes Golf &
Country Club in Richmond, BC August 4. Norman, spokesperson and
member of Inforetech's Board of Directors, is coming off a great
performance at the British Open Championship. He will play 18 holes
of golf with the new handheld system and get first-hand feedback of
the technology, portability and ease of use.
In order to share the celebration with fans, tickets will be
available to the first 500 people who wish to see Norman play the
course in an intimate setting. All net proceeds from the event will
go to Junior Golf in British Columbia.
Fellow Inforetech Board of Directors members Doug Wood, Rick
Harrow, who recently released his latest book "When the Game is on
the Line", and other local celebrities will join Norman in this
18-hole event.
Inforetech, a Vancouver based company and leader in GPS
technology, provides a system that not only enhances the golfer
experience, but also allows the golf course to manage their tee
sheet and help control pace of play on the course.
Bob Silzer, President/CEO of Inforetech, said "Inforetech is
excited to be working with GolfBC and be able to provide Mayfair
Lakes with the first GPS install in Canada, and look forward to
having the Shark, Mr. Greg Norman attend this exciting
function."
Mayfair Lakes General Manager, Dave Hodgson, said his team is
excited to have Norman play the course, and excited to invite all
the great customers and fans in the Lower Mainland to this
once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Adding to the excitement of Norman's visit is the announcement
that the Canadian Tour will be back to Mayfair Lakes in June 2004.
The course hosted a Tour event for seven years - from 1994 to 2000
- and past winners include 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir.
The Inforetech Greg Norman Invitational at Mayfair Lakes will
begin at 12:00 pm and tickets can be purchased in person only at
