Links for Women Golf Clinics tees off third consecutive year of success at Mayfair Lakes
29th May, 2002
Toronto, ON – Links For Women Golf
Schools (LFW), Canada’s first national program targeted
exclusively to business women, kicks off its third year with the
addition of a new Vancouver venue, Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country
Club. The program has achieved a consistent 99 percent level of
customer satisfaction since its launch in 2000, providing the
foundation for moving into new markets.
Remaining events with space available at Mayfair are running on
July 12, 19, 26, August 9, 22 the Links for Women program has been
expanded to give over 2,500 Canadian women executives in Vancouver,
Calgary, Toronto, Muskoka and Ottawa an additional competitive
advantage when conducting business and developing relationships
outside of the office. Held at world-class golf facilities,
participants will enjoy a full day event that includes over four
hours of customized golf instruction, two hours of on-course play
with the instructors, complementary use of women’s golf
clubs, prizes and a networking event at the end of the day.
The game was originated in Scotland centuries ago with the name
Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden, (GOLF). But today, women
represent the fastest growing segment within the golfing community
and in 2001, 42 percent of new golfers in Canada were female. On a
per capita basis Canada is home to more golfers than any country in
the world and this year more than 71 million rounds of golf will be
played.
“Women executives need more than an MBA to compete
in today’s cut-throat business
environment,” stated Paul Alsop, Director of
Sponsorship & Event Marketing for SCOREGolf. “With
more business happening on the golf course each year and with less
time available for in-depth instruction, executives need a
comprehensive program that builds skill and confidence to get them
out on the course immediately. Links for Women is the only one-day
golf school that fulfills this requirement.”
In addition to hands-on instruction in all aspects of golf from
swing fundamentals, including irons and woods, to sand play and
chipping and putting, participants are also taught the business of
golf. This includes the rules and etiquette of the game, and
on-course protocol as well as how to create strategies for
achieving their business objective while on the course.
“What a difference that one day made in my game! I
impressed myself. I am a lot more confident and have a better idea
of what I was doing wrong before. I wish I had done this
sooner,” said Michelle Hannikainen, Dynamic Mutual
Funds. Women interested in enrolling in a Links for Women Golf
